Gravity Assist

Space is full of mysteries, and NASA spacecraft are working hard to unlock them. What are scientists finding out? How do they do their jobs? Dr. Jim Green, NASA’s Chief Scientist, taps some of the leading experts in planetary science and other fields to give you a guided tour of the solar system and beyond. Come along to learn about planets, the Moon, asteroids, and more. Jim also explores how scientists get inspired to pursue careers in science – that “gravity assist” that leads them to become the explorers they are today.

The title “Gravity Assist” refers to the slingshot effect a spacecraft gets when it uses the gravity of a planet or another object to speed up or alter its course. Each guest reveals the “gravity assist” that propelled them into their field of research.
