NASA GLOBE: Real World Earth Science Data in Your Classroom

Date: June 27, 2019 Time: 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. CT (30-minute lunch – please bring your own lunch and snacks. A refrigerator and microwave will be available) Audience: In-service, pre-service, home school and informal STEM educators of grades K-12 Location: Stennis Space Center; Rouchon House (map). Plan to arrive at Stennis at least 30 min. before start of the workshop to ensure enough time obtaining guest badge at Stennis gate. You must be a US citizen to register for this workshop and receive access to the Stennis Space Center to participate. Join us in this workshop that will explore GLOBE certification and classroom resources, focusing on atmosphere measurements and observations. The Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) Program is an international science and education program that provides educators, students and the public worldwide with the opportunity to participate in data collection and the scientific process, and contribute meaningfully to our understanding of the Earth system and global environment. On July 20th, we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first humans on the moon with Apollo 11. The Apollo missions made it possible for us to explore and better understand Earth, our moon and more distant worlds in our solar system. Along with the exciting history of Apollo, this workshop will explore the Earth and moon relationship, STEM classroom resources, activities and engineering design challenges that integrate our moon, Earth and human exploration into your classroom.
